Home Yatra's Home Introduction

Yatra is a youth led and managed organization which was established by young volunteers in 2004. Yatra defines youth as a person in between age 16-29 years. Yatra works for environmental sustainability and youth engagement in Nepal and is the founder member of Association of Youth Organizations Nepal (AYON).Yatra is a recipient of Matthew Preece and Yeshi Lama Young Conservation Leader Award 2009

In the first three years of our existence, we concentrated on primary environment care activities. We started with helping our friends understand the basics of environmental conservation. We realize that environmental conservation is not possible in isolation. We also realize that conservation fosters if it is embedded or instilled in our cultural practices and belief systems. Hence, for us environmental conservation should be guided by values that we own.

Yatra’s mission - Explore, Appreciate and Act

We explore diversity of Culture, People (specially youth) and Nature;appreciates their prosperity and takes necessary actions for the co-existence and respect for each other. From this realization we developed the mission to - explore, appreciate and act, culture, people and nature.

We aim to provide a platform to help young people implement their creative concepts and promote social entrepreneurship to encourage civic participation of young people in conservation.
